Weekly Update 2229 April 2022 (by admin) |
Dear parents and carers,
It has been an exciting week back to school. Each year group has begun their new topics and the children have taken part in a range of enriching activities. Look out for the termly newsletters next week to find out about the learning for the term.
We are in the final stages of writing your child’s written report for the year. These will be sent out to parents on Friday 6th May.
Dates for your diaries
We have plenty of events to look forward to over the term:
In assembly this afternoon, we talked about the Queen’s Jubilee and our planned Big Lunch celebration on Friday 27th May. The afternoon will begin with parents invited to have lunch with their child in the school playground, followed by an afternoon of activities for families. School Council will be organising the event and further information will be sent home in the next two weeks. If you would like to be involved in organszing it, please let the school office know.
Healthy lives week will take place the week beginning the 20th June. Children will take part in physical activities as well as learning about staying healthy. The finale of the week is Sports Day which will take place on Thursday 23rd June (back up day is Friday 24th June).
We will also be holding a Diversity Party on Monday 4th July. This is a whole-school event and will celebrate the diversity within the school.
We will also be holding our annual parents open afternoon for families to come and meet their child’s new teachers and look at the work completed by their child over the year. This will be on Thursday 14th July between 3:30 – 5pm.
Toys in school
Please remember that we do not allow any toys to be brought into school unless they are part of an agreed plan to support your child.
Please also be aware of references made to “Huggy Wuggy”. This is a character in a computer game which has been made into a toy with blue fur and has razor sharp teeth. In the game, It hugs children and then kills them. We have had to speak to a few children who have talked about this in school or who have versions of the toy as this is distressing for our younger pupils.
Prayer Mats for Friday Prayer
Please can we remind parents of children who take part in the prayer to send a prayer mat in a bag with their child on Friday mornings.

I hope everyone had a great Easter and took part in many events to celebrate the festival. Congratulations to our Easter egg competition winners for their wonderful designs.

Fundraising with the Parent Teacher Association
The children have designed the playground equipment to replace the older apparatus. The cost of the equipment will be over £40,000.00. We need additional funding to pay for this. We are therefore asking for parents to pull together to fundraise so that the equipment can be installed within the next year.
The Art competition was one way to raise funds to pay for this. However, only 8 parents have responded to the link sent out. Please see the web page: https://www.fairfields.hants.sch.uk/parents/fairfields-art-gallery for more information.
If you have the energy, skills and time to support this fundraising mission, please join us for a meeting on the playground at 3:30pm on Wednesday 11th May. Your children are welcome and can play in the playground whilst we meet.
Finally, have a wonderful long weekend and I look forward to seeing you back in school on Tuesday 3rd May.
